OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition Launched in India for Rs. 38,999
The OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition will go sale on Amazon.in, OnePlusStore.in, and OnePlus experience zones in Bengaluru, and Noida from December 15 - the same day as The Last Jedi's release in India. Details about its price and storage variants are yet to be revealed.
OnePlus has provided a white back on OnePlus 5T Limited Edition along with a Star Wars logo. The alert slider on the left has also received a red-colour paint job. Besides, as per an official teaser video on YouTube, the smartphone includes a Stormtrooper wallpaper that matches the deep black front.
Specifications of the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition are likely to be identical to its original version that was launched in India last month with a starting price tag of Rs. 32,999. The flagship features a 6.01-inch Full Optic AMOLED display with full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The handset sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and a pre-installed Face Unlock feature.
We published a hands-on of the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition earlier on Thursday, and found it worthy of discerning Star Wars fans and OnePlus fans alike — plus customers who want a unique smartphone design. The Star Wars Edition stands out with a black front, white sides and white rear, a prominent red alert slider, a ceramic fingerprint sensor, and a Star Wars logo on the back.
In terms of software, the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition is powered by OxygenOS 4.7 on top of Android 7.1 Nougat, just like the standard OnePlus 5T. (OnePlus says that an Android Oreo update will roll out in early in early 2018.) By default, the phone will ship with OnePlus’s “Star Wars” theme, which is similar to the Dark theme on other OnePlus devices — with the exception, of course, of the red accent color and ten exclusive Star Wars wallpapers.
The device comes in a special box that’s much bigger than standard OnePlus 5T packaging, and includes a Star Wars Kylo Ren case. The case is made of TPU plastic, and has decent build quality.
The OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition will launch in India on December 15, the same day as the release of The Last Jedi. It will also make its way to Finland, Denmark, and Sweden. In India, the Limited Edition device carries a price tag of Rs. 38,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, which makes it Rs. 1000 more expensive than the standard OnePlus 5T 8GB RAM variant. OnePlus opted not to release a 6GB RAM/64GB storage model.
Also in India, the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition will be sold in limited quantities on Amazon India and the OnePlus Store. OnePlus did not reveal the exact number of units they plan to produce.
In terms of launch promotions, OnePlus is offering a Rs. 1500 instant discount for Axis Bank debit and credit card users. The Star Wars Edition is also eligible for zero cost three-months EMI. Idea is offering additional mobile data for 18 months. The phone also comes with a one-year complimentary membership for Zomato Gold, and has a Rs. 500 credit for Kindle e-books when users sign-in to the Kindle app.
